Violet J. Berry, 86, passed away at Butterfly Homes in Billings, MT on May 18, 2021. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 from 4-6 PM at Smith Chapels 925 S. 27th St. Billings. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 2PM at Bridger Cemetery.

She was born on August 27, 1934 in Clark, WY the 4th child of Dan and Hilda (Kunz) Holthues.
As a child she was involved in 4-H. in 6th grade the family moved to Fromberg, MT. She sang in the Choir and play Cornet in the Band. In her Junior year she dropped out of school and married Charles Berry (who she had met at a cousin’s wedding dance) on April 5, 1952. To this union 4 children were born. They lived in Bridger, MT, California, and Cody, WY, before moving to their home in Billings, MT.
She enjoyed fishing hunting, sewing, quilting (she made one for each family member), knitting (every one of us got slippers for Christmas), crocheting, painting, bowling, and making Birthday and Wedding cakes for family and friends. Any project she wanted she pretty much did herself.
She worked as a Teachers Aid at Lockwood School, in the lab at The Sugar Factory, and Sales assoc. at the Western Outdoor Store. She was active in the PTA and The Women’s Bowling Assn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daughter Helen (lived for only 1 day), Daughter Glenda Whinnery, and a Son Corey Berry. Brothers Raymond and Dennis, Sister Frances Arney.
She is survived by Daughter Donna (Denis) Asay. Grandchildren Tammy (Larry) Bennert, Dan (Crystal) Friedrich, Kelly Brown, Angela Brown, Jeff (Jessica) Brown, Jessica Berry, Justin Berry, and Great Grandchildren. Son in Law, Marvin Whinnery and Daughter in Law Michelle Berry.
