Obituary

Harold C. Roth, 82, passed peacefully in his home April 05, 2021 surrounded by family. Harold was born March 06, 1939 in New Underwood, SD to parents George and Hazel Roth. He married his wife of 48 years, Bonnie on May 05, 1972.

Harold proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard for four years before transitioning to active duty in the U.S. Army. He served in the Army from 1962 to 1965; spending three years stationed in Hanau, Germany.

Moving to Columbus in 1978, Harold worked as a concrete contractor. After helping to build the Stillwater Mine Smelter as part of the contracting crew, he joined the Stillwater Mining Company team until his retirement in 2003. He spent several retirement years working in Yellowstone National Park, enjoying his time working the boat dock at Bridge Bay on Yellowstone Lake.

Pops enjoyed hiking, fly-fishing, watching birds, rock hunting and photography.

He leaves behind his wife Bonnie, daughter Tammy (Blaine) Weston of Billings, MT; son Troy (Tracey) Graham of Canton, NC and three granddaughters Ashley, Shelby, and Haylie. He is survived by his brother Bill (MaryAnn) of Rapid City, SD and several nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his Father and Mother (George and Hazel), brother Phil and sister Mary.

Cremation will be held at Smith Funeral Chapel in Columbus, MT. Private services to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to American Legion Post 34.
