Gary Laferriere died March 22nd, 2021 at the age of 76. Gary died at home, the place he wanted to be most after fighting a serious sudden illness for some time. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life ceremony is to be held at a later date.
Gary was born & raised in Billings, MT, the 2nd of 6 children born to Edward & Ann (Saarela) Laferriere. He graduated from Billings Senior High in 1963. Gary married Margie (Anderson) Laferriere & they had 3 children: Stacie, Deb & Wayne.
Right after graduation, Gary started working as a sprinkler fitter, a profession he dedicated his working years to up until he retired. After retirement Gary dedicated 25 years of service to the Blue Creek Volunteer Fire Department in which he enjoyed having his scanner on & going out on calls.
In his younger year Gary was an avid outdoorsman, having spent countless weekend adventures with his brother Richard & son Wayne. He loved to camp, fish, hunt & trap. He was a member of the MT jet boat association & enjoyed being on the river with his friends & family. He spent quite a bit of time in the Pryor Mountains & at his family’s farm outside of Roberts Montana.
He was a man of few words, a thinker. He was smart and frugal, always living below his means. A hard worker, he liked to supervise others' work when he could no longer do it himself. He was stubborn but caring. He wanted nothing but the best for his family and friends.
Gary is preceded in death by his father Edward Laferriere, mother Ann Laferriere, brother Richard Laferriere, brother Mickey Laferriere. Gary is survived by: his wife Margie, children: Stacie, Deb, and Wayne (Tracy Kipp). Granddaughters: Terra Price, Shaelyn Bachini (Cody Ristau) & Shelby Bachini. Great-granddaughter: Joycelyn Price. Sisters: Donna Reid, Meri Shoff (John), Janet Laferriere. Sister-in-law Darlene Laferriere (Jerry Iacopini) as well as numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

Memorials may be made to Blue Creek Volunteer Fire Department, 2504 Blue Creek Rd, Billings, MT

Gary was kind to me and generous with his knowledge. I learned a lot from him.
I enjoyed having a couple of beers with him also. He talked of his son often.
My condolences.
