Ralph met Ramona Ross while she was visiting her sister on the Downs family farm. Once they met the rest is history. Their love and dedication to one another was beyond compare. Ralph and Ramona were married on March 31, 1951 and would have been celebrating their 70th Anniversary next month.
Ralph dedicated his life to family and farming. He did custom combining with his brothers and his dad for many years. Ralph and his brother Bill owned Downs Trucking. Ralph served on the Board of Directors for the Molt Elevator for many years, attending several annual conventions in the Twin Cities. Ralph also served on the school board; he presented his two eldest daughters, Deb, and Corinne, with their 8th grade diplomas and his youngest daughter Valerie with her kindergarten diploma. He loved his three daughters very much. Ralph enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, and hunting. He showed his support for his children and grandchildren at countless sporting and school events throughout the years.
Ralph leaves behind his wife Ramona; their three children Deb (Russ) Imlay, Corinne (George) Fernandez, and Valerie (Tom) Williams; grandchildren Jason (Jen) Fernandez, Justin Fernandez, Shawn (Jennifer) Imlay, Eric Williams, Michaela Williams, Jacob (Kris) Williams, and Connor Williams; four great grandchildren, Branch Imlay, Lincoln, Eliza, and Nolan Williams, sisters-in-law Shirley Downs, Delores Gerber, Marilyn Vaughn, and Wendy Ross; brother-in-law Tim Ross, and many nieces and nephews.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Arlene Voss, brother Ernest Downs, his brother William Downs, his sister Doris Lenhardt, and grandson Seth Imlay.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ralph’s name can be made to the Molt Congregational Church, Box 81, Molt, Montana 59057 or Molt Volunteer Fire Department, Box 68, Molt, Montana 59057.
