Marie Emma Reichert (Quinlan)

Marie Emma Quinlan Reichert, 96, Passed away February 17, 2021.

She was born January 25, 1925 on the family ranch to Joseph and Emma (Scheidt) Quinlan, the third of 8 children. She attended Smith Creek School and graduated from Forsythe High School in 1943. She was the last remaining member of her class.

On June 15, 1943 she married Pete Reichert, had 61 wonderful years together and raised 3 children, David Joe, Joanne and Kathy.

Being a farmer’s wife, she helped in every aspect of farming, including growing large vegetable gardens and beautiful flower gardens. Neighbors would come by just to admire them. Besides all this work, she cooked great meals, quilted, and crocheted. One of her quilts won first prize at the Western Heritage Center in Billings.

Marie and Pete retired in 1986 and bought their first house where they spent many hours making their yard a showplace of the neighborhood. After Pete passed away in 2004, she took care of their house and large yard by herself, until her health declined, and she moved to St. John’s Lutheran Home. There, she loved doing jigsaw puzzles and listening to Pete’s polka music.

Marie was preceded by her husband, Pete; son, David Joe; brothers, Arlen, Howard, Joe, Robert, Marvin (Leona) and sister, Josephine (Frank) Cory.

Marie is survived by daughters, Joanne (Les) King, Kathy (Bernie) Kyhl and daughter-in-law, Judy Reichert; 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Donald (Virginia) Quinlan and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., February 20, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church; Laurel, MT. Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens; Billings, MT. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials to be made in Marie’s honor to your favorite charity. In the spring, plant a seed in Marie's honor.
