Gary Lee Saindon passed away peacefully on November 11, 2020 with his wife of 58 years, Jayne and his daughter, Susan by his side.
Gary was born on March 17, 1941 in Glasgow, MT to Roy and Mildred Saindon, he was the fourth of five children. Gary was an active young boy, enjoying life with his siblings, but the most enjoyable was fishing on the Milk River. That time on the river turned into a lifelong passion of fishing for Gary.
Gary graduated from high school in 1959, he participated in sports and always loved sports. He was an avid Vikings fan from their very beginning. Gary loved working with his hands which continued throughout his whole life.
Gary moved to Billings in 1960 where he met Jayne Young. They were married on December 1, 1962 and the romance continued just short of 58 years. They were blessed with their beautiful daughter, Susan in 1964.
Gary and Jayne moved to Whitefish in 1976, where Gary became partners with Tim Gratten. G & S Construction had many projects in the Flathead Valley. The biggest project to be remembered was the construction of Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish.
Gary wrote the book, The Offseason Angler, which included instruction to build several different fly tying station projects that he had patented. Once that project was finished he began carving Shorebirds and had a studio in Somers. Gary had a lifelong passion for model ship building that started in high school, he picked up again in the last few years. He was working on his last ship, aptly named “Fly Fish 1951.” Gary’s mind was never quiet, he always had a plan.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Mildred Saindon, his Grandmother Mary Johnson, sister Gloria, brother in laws; Cletus Fuhrman, Robert “Bob” Fuhrmann, and Dale Morgan, two special great nephews Mark Morgan and Tyler Morgan.
Gary is survived by his wife Jayne, Susan (Ron) Walter, his “Main Man” grandson Evan, brother Dave (Jan) Saindon, sister Marie Fuhrmann, brother Bobby (Ann) Saindon, sister-in-law Natha Morgan, and many special nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
We love you Gary, until we meet again…

Dear Jayne, Susan and family, I am so sorry for your loss of Gary. Such a kind, sweet, smart man. I always enjoyed seeing Gary as a patient at Grand Ave Dental ( as I did seeing all of you!). I will never forget when he brought me a box of chocolates from Parrot candy store- was a fun surprise that was- and quite the effort from him! He gave me great advice when I was starting my garden and I appreciated it very much as my garden improved! Relating stories of Evan made him shine. Know my Prayers are with all of you. God Bless, Lynn Tuell

Gary and I were classmates from Glasgow's Class of 1959. My memories of him run deep. He was a treasured high school friend, always kind and fun to be with. Although our paths didn't cross after high school, Gary will always be a part of my memory back. My condolences to his family and all who loved him.
