Born on April 23, 1953 to Peter Winge and Ina Winge [Haugan] of Nye, Debi was the first of three sisters.
She graduated from Absarokee High School in 1971, and went on to practice as an LPN in Jordan and Livingston MT. Later, while raising her children she worked underground, and later as an equipment maintenance planner at the Stillwater Mine. She capped her career by providing consulting services to a variety of businesses across the US.
In 2009 she joined husband Michael in an adventure to the Republic of Suriname, where she lived until returning to Nye in 2014. Debi really enjoyed living the Caribbean lifestyle and was enthralled with the wide variety of birds to watch.
Debi was slowed down the last few years with a number of health issues, but she never let them be an impediment to her always positive outlook, willingness to help, and to living a meaningful life. She continued her love of birdwatching, and was an active supporter of her grandchildren’s sports teams, putting in considerable time in bleachers.
Debi will be forever remembered by her husband, and best friend Michael Wilson, her parents, Petie and Ina Winge, sisters, Teddi (Scott Harnsberger), Ronda Winge, her blended family that she expressed daily her love for: Pieper (Scott Heimer), Rylan (Kaity Williams), Kayla (Aaron Jimenez), Jordan Wilson, and her eight grandchildren – Jonas, Austin, Breezy, Olivia, Jace, Bennie, Bodee, and Malcolm. And surely not to be missed, her beloved Sadie.
A graveside service will be held at the Nye Community Cemetery, Sept 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM, followed by a luncheon at the Nye Fire Department.
The family suggests any memorials be addressed to the Nye Community Foundation or the Nye Fire Association. Condolences may be shared at www.smithfuneralchapels.com.
