Robert is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. For his service, he earned two Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals, Iraq Campaign Medal, three Sea Services Deployment Ribbons, Humanitarian Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Individual Certificate of Commendation, and two Meritorious Masts. He served honorably in the Marines, achieving the rank of Sergeant.
Robert's experience in the Marines played a very important role in his life. He always wanted to be a Marine and follow in his father’s footsteps. He frequently pointed out that the Marines taught him the value of discipline, teamwork, and investing in a cause larger than himself. He proudly served his country. What he considered his biggest success was his time serving as a Marine Corps recruiter in which he helped many young men fulfill their dream of becoming a Marine.
Robert left the Marines in 2012 to focus on family. His pride and joy was his boy, Kaine. He always wanted a son, but was also lucky enough to be blessed with a step-daughter Olivia. Life was too short for him. He loved his children with all his heart. Robert enjoyed life and always lived as if it were his last day. It’s fair to say that everyone has a chapter in their life they don’t read out loud. Robert had his, but he was an incredible man who loved his family and friends, served his country, and who could always crack a joke and make others laugh. He will be missed and remembered by many.
Robert is survived by his son, Kaine; step-daughter, Olivia; Sister, Tina Erhardt (Corey); step-mother, Kathy Snell; ex-wife, Beth Snell; three step-sisters, Colleen Rodriquez (Jason), Taya Sears Keith, Heather Sears; two step-brothers, Josh Sears and Jason Sears; eleven nieces and nephews; and his father’s two brothers Jeff and Dan and sister Susan. He is preceded in death by his father, Rodney Steven Snell.
Funeral arrangements are provided by Smith Funeral Home (Downtown). A graveside military honors funeral service will be held Tuesday July 28th, 2020 at 1pm at the Rockvale Cemetery in Joliet, MT where he will be laid to rest with his father.
