He worked in the freight delivery business to support the family until his retirement. He always ensured that his family was taken care of. He had a love for the outdoors especially fishing and camping and pasted this tradition onto his children. In retirement, he started recycling aluminum and scrape steel before it was trendy. He enjoyed breakfast and coffee with his friends at the Hog Wild Café, he spoke of them often. On Sundays, you would find Ralph doing his other favorite pastime which was polka dancing. Nothing made him happier then when he was with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. It made him smile from ear to ear. He also loved his daily ice cream and strawberry shakes. Ralph lived his life on his own terms and independently up until the end.
Ralph is survived by his children: Karen (Steve) Benson, Tim (LuAnn) Kammerzell, Lynette Lambert, James Kammerzell, & Theresa (Ron) Cummings. He is also survived by his brother Donald Kammerzell. He is survived by eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, son Larry, and granddaughter, Tamara.
Ralph’s family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to the staff at Riverstone Hospice for all that they did for him. We would also like to extend our gratitude to his granddaughter Kathy, for taking excellent care of her grandfather in his final days. She and the staff at Riverstone went above and beyond to make him comfortable in his final days. Kathy would like to express that her grandfather makes her very proud and she is proud to be called his granddaughter and will always be in her heart.
