Duanne Stellflug, longtime resident of Opheim, MT passed away March 23, 2019.. He was born in Opheim on September 16, 1941to Joe and Jeanette Stellflug. He attended school in Opheim and graduated in 1959. Duanne enlisted in the army after high school and served in Swinefurt, Germany as a communications operator. After his time in the army, Duanne owned and operated a custom combining operation going from Montana to Kansas. He then returned to the Opheim area and began farming and ranching. He married Sandy Ganrud in 1966. They had three children, Kim, Konlin and Kari. The family lived west of Opheim on the Golden Valley Ranch. They farmed raising wheat, raised red angus cattle and registered quarter horses. Duanne and Sandy divorced in 2003.

Duanne enjoyed team roping and started the Opheim Roping Club and the Hi-Line Roping Club. He served as the 4-H Beef Superintendent at the Valley County Fair for many years. Duanne loved horses and knew a good horse better than anyone. He dedicated his life to being a talented stockman.
In 2007, Duanne married Nicky Carr. They enjoyed traveling and going to many horse sales. Together, they enjoyed working with their horses, competing in team penning and roping events as well as spending time with family and friends.
Duanne was preceded in death by his father, Joe, his mother, Jeanette. He is survived by his wife, Nicky Stellflug, daughter Kim Stellflug, son Konlin (Maria) Stellflug, daughter, Kari (Jim) Carbajal, grandchildren, Konnor, Trevor and Josh Stellflug, Avery, Jackson, and Sophie Carbajal, Nicky's daughters, Shawna (Josh) Michelena, Dana (Todd) Wagner and grandchildren, Kamryn, Dellana and Jergen Michelena and Madison and Riley Wagner, brother LaVern Stellflug, uncle Kerm (Vicki) Westby and aunt Marci Roots, nieces and nephews and many cousins, as well as his special cat, Scamper.
Smith's Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements with services being at Smith Downtown Chapel on June 13, 2019 at 1pm, as well as a service in Opheim on June 22 and interment at the Opheim Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch in Duanne's name if so desired.
