Kathryn Annabelle (Nile) Zurbuchen, reverently referred to as mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, friend, and auntie, of Billings Montana Died April 16, 2019, at Riverstone Health Hospice Home of congestive heart failure. Mom was born the 12th of 13 children of Frederick Nipple and Edith Tracy on the family farm in Rosebud County on February 28, 1919, during a blizzard. Upon graduating Forsyth High School she went to Beauty School and worked at Dorothy's Beauty Shop in Forsyth, MT. In 1944 she enlisted in the US Navy serving in Bainbridge WA, and Washington DC as a teletype operator until 1946. She came back to Billings Montana and worked at the Morrison Eye Clinic as a bookkeeper until 1948. On May 3, 1947 she Married Alpheus W. Zurbuchen, together they enjoyed the fellowship of Masonic affiliations (Mizpah Shrine #4, Moss Agate Order of Eastern Star, Albedoo Shrine, and Jobs Daughters) the Elks, raised 2 boys, learned to fish from dad, and went on numerous fishing camping trips. She went back to work in 1964 as cosmetologist and worked at St. Johns nursing home until 1967. Upon Al's death in 1977 she went back to the Morrison Eye Clinic until 1993, when he retired and moved to Florida.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, all siblings and spouses except one sister-in-law. She is survived by 2 sons Russell (Pat) and Tom (Susan Jane), 4 Grandchildren Debra (Karl Rogers), Jeremy (Mandy), Robert (Shellie), and Donna (Steven Roller), 9 great grandchildren (Zach and Elizabeth Rogers, Zoe and Renzie Zurbuchen, Brad (Marenda) Arcand, Jordan (Moe) Zurbuchen, Christy Zurbuchen, Zyanna and Carl Roller) and 5 great-great grandchildren (Hunter, Matalan and Jeremiah Arcand, Elaina and Kathryn Zurbuchen), and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at noon, Monday, April 22, 2019 at Smith Funeral Chapel, downtown, with a private internment. In lieu of flowers please support Riverstone Health Hospice, 123 South 27 or Billings Clinic Foundation/Heart Failure, 2917 10th Ave North both Billings Mt 59101.
