Jennie Harriet Hanson, age 90, born October 30, 1928 went home to be with Jesus Monday, April 1, 2019. Jennie was born to Nora and John Tennyson October 30 1928 and raised on the family farm in Huntley MT.

She shared many stories about helping her mother run the farm. Jennie attended Billings Senior High and Eastern Montana Normal School (MSU-B) receiving an elementary education degree teaching in Jardine and Shepard MT. Jennie and Carl Hilmar Hanson married on August 12, 1948. She raised 3 children in Billings.

Jennie spent many summers cooking for church events and camps at Camp on the Boulder. So many friendships developed and grew as Jennie and Carl operated their Round Barn Restaurant in Red Lodge, MT for 20 years. She really enjoyed entertaining friend and hosting Bible studies in her home. Jennie loved the Lord and her Evangelical United Methodist Church family. We are sending our love from New Mexico! So saddened that we can't be with our family to memorialize Jennie.

Jeannette will always be grateful to Jennie for welcoming her into the family with open arms. Jennie taught me so much including many tips for cooking and how to keep a sense of humor through tough times. She was one of my favorite people. I will miss her greatly.

Sam will never forget the time we were up in Montana last summer and we were visiting her and all of us were playing with the baby. We were all smiling and having a blast. I will always love her and the fact that she is gone breaks my heart.

Abby will always remember that Jennie always put family before anything in the world. I remember Jennie letting me and my brother run around her yard and play in our kiddy pool our parents bought us and I thank Jennie for that.

Rosemary will always remember how Jennie and Carl welcomed me with open arms when they welcomed my daughter Jeannette into their family. I remember a lovely Thanksgiving in Mesa when Jennie and Carl invited me to join them because Jeannette and Jim and the kids were spending Thanksgiving with them. I was made so welcome, even though they didn't know me very well. We were all family within Jennie and Carl's big hearts.

With love from Albuquerque,
Jeannette, Sam, Abby, & Rosemary

I’m very sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one might just be the saddest experience there is. That’s why I’d like to share with you a message of hope that helped me cope with my grief. God’s Word, the Bible, compares death to being asleep (see 1 Thesalonians 4:14). Jesus Christ himself said “The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life” (John 11:25). God is very interested in providing us confort in times like this (2 Corinthians 1:3,4). This words have given me hope and I felt the need to share them with you.
