Obituary for Patricia Nora Shannon


Patricia “Pat” Shannon passed away at Tender Nest Assisted Living in Billings , MT, on Jan. 23, 2019.

Pat Shannon was born on February 22, 1930 in Jersey City NJ, the daughter of Patrick and Mae (Delaney) Sweeney.

She was raised and educated in Jersey City. After high school graduation, Pat attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City. Pat was employed at the Bank of New York. She loved working in Manhattan . She also enjoyed taking the ferry from Jersey City to Manhattan, when the weather permitted.

On November 14, 1953 Pat married Francis (Frank) Shannon. In 1968, the family, now including three daughters , moved to Willingboro , NJ. she was employed as a secretary for the Willingboro board of Education before retiring in 1995 , after 25 years.

Pat and Frank moved to Ashland in 2001, to be closer to their children and grandchildren . Her husband, Frank , passed away in 2006, after 52 years of marriage

Pat continued to live with her daughter, Colleen and her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid reader, loved the Jersey beaches, and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City , NJ, and Deadwood S. D.

Pat is survived by her three daughters, Kathleen (David) Wilson, Recluse, WY, Colleen (Doug) Hopkins, Ashland MT , and Irene Penrod, Billings MT . She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Ashley, and Michelle Hopkins, Nate and Shannon Wilson, Brandy Landrie, and six great-grandchildren. She was especially close to her great-grandson, DeMarcus, of the family home. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Frank , parents Patrick and Mae , two sisters, Peggy Cummings, Mary Webster, and one brother , John Sweeney .

The family would like to thank the staff of Riverstone Hospice and Tender Nest Assisted Living for their care.

Private family services have already taken place.
