Obituary for Rowena Weil

Rowena A. Weil passed in Billings on January 19th at the age of 96 and 1/2 years old. She was born July 15, 1922, in Bozeman, MT to Pernell John (Jack) and Roberta Holloway. The family, later moved to Billings, were Rowena graduated from Billings Senior High and attended Rocky Mountain College. She married Harry W. Miller of Billings and they two sons, Harry M. Miller of Billings and Thomas L. Miller (Cindy) of Cody.

During World War II, She worked for Boeing in Seattle, WA, as the war ended, Rowena and Harry moved home to Billings were they later divorced. Mom worked in the offices of Meadow Gold Dairies and the Elks Club and later married Reuben Weil. They traveled extensively in their motor home after their retirement, primarily in the southwestern United States. Rowena was a member of PEO (Chapter BB) for over 70 years and was very active, especially in Cottey College charities. She made beautiful handmade embroidery and loved to knit, and was an avid reader. She also loved card games of all types.

Rowena is survived by her sons and three grandchildren; David Todd Miller of Boulder, CO, Wendy Heigel (Doug) of San Marin, CA, and Lisa M. Hayhurst (Matt) of Missoula, as well as seven great grandchildren; Rayna and Taig Miller of Boulder, CO, Elliott, Charlie and Ben Hayhurst of Missoula, and Hart and Truman Miller of Billings. Nephews Pepper Reese of Boise, ID, and Ron Reese of Sand Point, ID, and half-brother Bruce Holloway of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by special brother-in-law, William Ben Miller, M.D. of Evergreen, CO and his five children.

Rowena is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and her grandson Thomas Campbell Miller (Carrie) of Billings, sister Juana May (Johnie) Loomis who for a period, lived in Billings with Rowena and also a half-brother, Doug Holloway.

Very special thanks to the devoted and caring staff of Aspen Meadows and to Mrs. Gayle Larsen who watched over Mom during countless visits and helped with shopping for her needs.
