Obituary for Alice May Hill (Marthaller)

Alice M. Hill, age 78 went to be with the lord on Jan. 8, 2019 in Billings surrounded by her three daughters(Virginia, Mary Ann and Audra), son Larry and two grand daughters(Amanda and Heather). Alice was born to Casper and Theresa Marthaller on Oct. 12,1940 in Dickinson, ND. She grew up in Anaconda, MT. She was the third child of 9 children.

She married William Bercier and together had six children. Later divorcing, Alice moved to Billings to pursue her nursing degree. While being a full time nursing student, she also balanced being a full time mom working a full time job. In 1986 she received her nursing degree. Her first nursing job was in Red Lodge at Cedar Wood Villa working for Dr.Sonnenberg. She received the regional leadership award and service excellence award in 1998. When Dr.Sonnenberg transferred to a new job, Alice decided it was time to try something new as well. She then started working and retired from at Evergreen Laurel Health & Rehab in Laurel, MT, working in the Alzheimer’s unit for 20 dedicated years. In 2006 she was honored with nurse of the year! Alice’s passions in life were her children, all of her family, caring for people and her faith in god.

She married her soul mate, Myrl Hill and they made their home in Fromberg, MT. They loved to travel together, enjoyed time with their family and were inseparable.

Alice is survived by her 6 children, Virginia(John) Vauthier, Mary Ann(Mark) Patterson, Brenda Klein, Bill Bercier, Audra Gairrett and Larry (Jen) Bercier. Four step children, Mike (Chris) Hill, Kathy Camp, Lori Sweet and Holly(Tim) Feller . Sisters, Dorothy Weber, Betty Marthaller and Georgia Blotsky and her brother Richard (Linda) Marthaller. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Myrl; parents, Casper and Theresa Marthaller; brother Ken Marthaller; sisters, Natalie Peterson, Viola Linghor and Adline Nadeau and great-grandson John Grady King.

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens; a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance”. - Ecclesiastes 3:1-4

We would like to thank the staff (Kevin, Wendy, Steffany, Bree, Dorry, Makayla, Trina, Marianne, Jennifer, Brianne, Momi, Patricia, Karly and Dawn) of Canyon Creek Memory Center for all the care you gave her and the extra mile you all made to make her feel so special. We are sorry if we missed anyones name as there are so many of you that had an amazing impact on Alice.

Cremation has taken place and a private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
