Virginia Evalene Bare, 87 was born Dec 6, 1931, in Elkland, MO, to Luther & Florence (Highfill) McNabb. She passed on December 20, 2018 at Laurel Health & Rehab. Evalene grew up with her father & step mother in Missouri. During this time she met her future husband, Roger Bare, through her aunt who was teaching school in Park City, MT. While still living in Missouri Evalene earned her teaching certificate and taught in a one room school; she and Roger corresponded over the miles. It was during a trip to Montana to visit her aunt when Roger proposed and they were married shortly after on July 2, 1957 in Red Lodge, MT.

Evalene began attending First Baptist church in Laurel, MT on Aug 4, 1957 where she was a faithful member for the next 60 years until she became home-bound at Laurel Health & Rehab.
Through the years, Evalene enjoyed gardening & canning, crocheting & embroidering, quilting, reading, caring for orchids & sewing gifts for her grandchildren as long as she was able.
Evalene is preceded in death by dad, Luther McNabb, mother Florence McNabb, step-mom Moline McNabb, brother, Norman Lee McNabb, husband Roger (Oct of 2016) & son, Daniel (March of 2018). Evalene is survived by sons Dwight, daughter-in-law Sandy, & son David (Neta), She has five grandchildren & four great grandchildren with the 5th one due in May.
Viewing will be from 2-4 pm, Sunday, Jan 27, at Smith Funeral Home in Laurel, 315 East 3rd
Funeral service will be at 10 am Monday, January 28, 2019, at First Baptist Church, 400 7th Ave in Laurel, with viewing at the church one hour prior to service. Interment will be at the Yellowstone National Cemetery, Laurel at 11 am. Condolences may be shared online at www.smithfuneralchapels.com
