Obituary for Kenneth Finley

On December 18, 2018 Kenneth entered the loving arms of his Savior.

Kenneth Lee Finley was born on October 7, 1924 to Ira and Mary Finley in Billings, MT. He was born a twin (with his sister Katherine) and one of eight children.
Kenneth went to Billings Senior High School and graduated in 1942. After graduating high school, he helped out at his family’s farm before joining the Navy. In the Navy he was an Aviation Electronics Technician and liked to box in his free time.

After his time in the Navy he met the love of his life Esther Dell Barnes and they were married on November 2, 1947 at United Methodist Church in Billings, MT. To their loving union five sons were born: Eddie (Juli), Robert (Martha), Daniel (Corinne), Thomas and James (Monica); grandchildren, Jennifer (Patrick), Michelle, Amy (Mitch), Amanda, Ryan, Tasha (Kyle), John-Robert (Jessica), Jesse (Bonnie), Lynsay (Brett), Tiffani, and Tara; as well as 15 great-grandchildren.

Kenny and Esther raised their sons in Lockwood, while farming and ranching for many years. Along with farming and ranching Kenny had many other ventures. He was an Entrepreneur and an inventor. He had his pilot’s license and loved to fly small prop planes. He worked at the Conoco Refinery. Along with Esther he started Finley’s Fine Furniture in Billings and even sold insurance and repaired televisions.

Kenny was known for his love of helping people. He took joy in helping others, whether it was fixing an appliance or helping around other’s homes, Kenny was there. He loved devoting time to the “Walk to Emmaus” and spent many hours helping around the Moss Mansion. He enjoyed volunteering for the American Red Cross and was always looking for ways to serve others through his inventions. His heart for serving was evident up until the day he died.

Kenny is survived by his five sons and their families, his brother Charles (Renee), his sister Marjorie Gillison, and numerous nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Esther, his parents, his siblings: John Robert, Mary Louise, Katherine Bentz, Gordon and Clyde. And his daughter-in-law, Sheri Olson Finley.

Visitation will be held from 4pm-7pm on December 28 at Smith Chapel West, 304 34th St West.

The funeral service will be at 11am on December 29 at Smith Chapel West. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow back at Smith Chapel West. Condolences for the family may be shared at smithfuneralchapels.com.
