Obituary for Karen Ann Hergett

Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.

Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Karen.
Karen Ann Hergett, daughter of Ernest and Dora, was born in Red Lodge, Montana, on June 22, 1961.
She was baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit on July 9, 1961. She confessed her baptismal faith in the rite of Confirmation receiving God’s life-giving body and blood.
God blessed Karen’s life with many special people as she served God in her vocations at home, church, work and in the community. Karen was a healer and caregiver to the core, constantly seeking ways to help those around her. After graduating from Billings Senior High School in 1979, Karen studied nursing at Montana State University in Bozeman and then ministered to patients at St. Vincent Healthcare for 17 years. Later, she transformed her knowledge into new paths of leading people toward health and wellness. Along the way, she created a vast and loving circle of people and inspired them to continue her mission.

Karen will be remembered for her brilliant smile, her intense love for her family and friends and for her ever-generous heart.
She is survived by her parents; brothers Harvey (Pam), Tim (Vonnie) and Michael; sister Jeannie (Gus Rivera); nieces and nephews Trevor, Tricia, Adel (Jason Brown), Alyssa (Travis Marsh), Jake, Ryver, Rachel, Kendra and Justin; and a great niece and nephew, Gerius and Shae.
God blessed her with holy death and took her home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 709 Newman Lane in Billings. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12, at Smith Downtown Funeral Chapel, 925 S. 27th St., and before the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Christ the King’s building fund.
