Obituary for Frances Barrett "Frannie" Matlock

Frannie was born to Frank and Martha Barrett on February 26, 1931 in the small farming town of Farnum, Nebraska. She led an amazing 87 years that came to a peaceful end surrounded by family on October 22, 2018.
She was the youngest of two children having an older brother, Wilsey Albert Barrett. She was raised by a hard-working Nebraska farmer that fought the unrelenting harsh Midwest summers until a late season hail storm completely wiped out the crops. Searching for more favorable conditions, the family moved north to Powell, Wyoming in the early 40’s.
She attended school in Powell and started working as a switch board operator at the age of 16 in 1947. Her working career spanned 45 years. Frannie worked for Credit Bureaus in Lovington, New Mexico; Cody Wyoming, and Billings, Montana. She also was a bookkeeper for Nationwide Paper, and finally H&H Lumber and retired in 1992.
Frannie met Robert William Matlock in Powell, and they were married on July 15, 1949 in Cody, Wyoming. Their only child Francis LeMoyne joined them on June 20th, 1950. They had an amazing 43 years together. Their early years together had them chasing oil fields and they lived in Miles City, Montana; Casper, Wyoming, and then to Lovington, New Mexico. Their final stop was in 1965 at Casa Village in Billings, Montana. Frannie was a dedicated sports fan, square dancer, card player, and enjoyed a variety of board games. Robert and Frannie traveled extensively to see family. This wonderful chapter of her life ended in 1992 with Robert’s passing.
Frannie was blessed to begin the next chapter of her life with Claucine Jordan that lasted for 21 years. Together they traveled the United States from coast to coast and enjoyed visiting children and grandchildren. They were a perfect team cooking together in the kitchen and enjoyed supporting the musical talents of the family. Claucine passed away suddenly in 2013.
The remaining five years of her life, Frannie was surrounded by her dear friends in Casa Village and lifelong card playing friends. They were a tremendous support and provided hours of fun and laughter. She enjoyed playing cards to the very end of her life.
From her life with Robert Matlock, Frannie is survived by her son, LeMoyne (LeAnn) Matlock, and grandchildren Camaren (Kent) Riddle, Barrett and Wyatt Matlock and great grand children Connor and Kayleigh Riddle.
From her life with Claucine Jordan, Frannie is survived by Annette (Vern) Gulick, Lynn (Rae Lynn) Jordan and grandchildren Georgianne (Craig) Bartle, and Angela and Brian Jordan.
We want to extend a special thank you to the staff of Riverstone Health Hospice Home for the compassionate care they provided the past six weeks. Condolences may be shared at
