Life Story for John C. Leonard

John C. Leonard
John Condon Leonard passed away August 15, 2018 after courageously fighting against a rare aggressive form of cancer. He was born November 14, 1939 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Charles Luke and Helen Katherine Leonard. He is survived by his brothers Peter, Luke, and Tom. Sisters Kate, Ann and Mary. His first spouse Dorothy Leonard and his current wife Marsha Leonard. Sons Charles and Jason Leonard, daughter in-law Tawna Leonard. Grandsons Drake and Anthony Leonard. Step daughters Shirley and Sheila Davis and grandchildren Max and Mason Eagle, Jake and Tyler Gstohl, Molly Mangus and great grandchildren Kasey and Kaitlyn Gstohl. John is preceded in death by his parents, little brother Chucky and two sisters Helen and Nell.

After high school in St. Paul, Minnesota he attended and graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He returned to Chicago after college and was a member of the Army Reserves. While in Chicago he worked in the Hospital Administration field. He continued this line of work after moving to Canton, Ohio in 1970. Later, John began working in the insurance field in 1980 he moved to Billings, Montana. John was a member of Holy Rosary, St. Thomas and St.Pius Catholic Churches.

John married Marsha Davis on September 23, 2000. They met at the YMCA. Exercising together became a big part of their life. They enjoyed going to church and continued to grow in their faith at Faith Chapel. John and Marsha took great joy in attending all their grandchildren's many activities.

John loved cheering on his favorite team, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team. He was an overcomer, conquering childhood polio and heart disease. John was a kind man who was close to God and valued the importance of family. Although he will be greatly missed, John's family takes great comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain and is now with the Lord.

Memorial service is Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00 at Faith Chapel using the Broadwater entrance. Reception to follow at Faith Chapel.
