Obituary for Darrell Leroy Waldo

Darrell Leroy Waldo
Darrell Leroy Waldo passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at his home in Billings, at the age of 79. He was born on the family farm in McHenry, ND on June 26, 1939 to Elton and Clara Waldo.
Darrell hunted, fished and worked on the family farm with his brothers and parents as a young boy. At age 12, he chose to go to high school in Warwick, ND instead of taking a portion of the family farm with a small herd of cattle.
At 21 years old, Darrell met Sharon Ann Lambert through mutual friends when she was only 15. They were married from 1960 until 1983. From this union Darryn Ronn was born in 1961 and Ward Elton was born in 1963.
Darrell met his second love Pam Schwartz while working together for Weissman’s steel warehouse in Billings. They were married from 1995 to present.
He developed many talents through his years of road construction in Devils Lake, ND and as a steel warehouse foreman and manager for Carl Weissman and Sons in Great Falls and Billings from 1968 to 1997. He finished up his working years at Northern Line Layers and working for his son at DRW Performance in Billings.
When Darrell wasn’t enjoying hunting, fishing or camping with family and friends you could find him working with wood building many creative projects from signs to furniture for gifts or to furnish the family home. He also enjoyed a good sense of humor getting him through the good and the bad times.
His most memorable trips involved outdoor adventure that encompassed a climb to Granite Peak in the Beartooth Mountains and an Alaskan cruise with all the magnificent glaciers and of course a day of fishing for Salmon.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Marvin and Wendell. He is survived by his wife Pam Waldo, brother Ron Waldo, sons Darryn (Brenda) Waldo and Ward (Dana) Waldo, step-son Adam Schwartz, 5 grandchildren-John, Jennifer, Justin, Garrett, Ariana and 4 great grandchildren.
Darrell insisted that there would be no service after his death. In lieu of a service we will be having a celebration of life in Darrell’s honor at 5335 Forest Hills Drive, Billings, on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 from noon until 4 p.m. Please feel free to stop by for lunch and bring a story about Darrell.
