Condolence From: Donna Dierenfield
Condolence: When I read of your mother's death, many pleasant memories of her flooded my mind. She was my 4th grade teacher in Pompey's Pillar. I am 74 now and have never forgotten how much I loved her! She brought an enthusiasm to our classroom that was infectious. Not only did she she teach us the "usual" curriculum, she excited us in other ways that I still remember. She taught us to tap dance to the song "School Days" for the yearly music festival held in Worden (which included children from the four country schools that comprised the Huntley Project school system). It was so exciting for us--our mothers sewed special clothing, and with "Miss Larson's" help we put "taps" on our shoes to be authentic!! We were so proud to represent our school! We also created artwork to enter at the Fair in Billings in August. Most of us were farm kids who also entered 4-H projects each year, but she showed us that there were other options for our creativity. She and your dad were married in June at the end of our 4th grade, and our entire class shared her excitement as the day got closer. I cut her wedding picture out of the Gazette and kept it for many years! She was so special, and will always be my favorite teacher! My sympathies to your entire family.
