Elizabeth Kuntz (Heilman)
Elizabeth (Betty) M. Kuntz passed away peacefully due to pneumonia on March 4, 2018, with her oldest son Ken and his wife Diane by her side at St. Vincent Healthcare.
She was born June 19, 1922 in Dickinson, ND to Joachim (Jim) and Helen (Wentz) Heilman and grew up on the farm outside Dickinson with her 2 sisters and 2 brothers. She married Ralph R Kuntz in 1941, and they lived in Huntley and Pompeys Pillar, when Ralph got out of the service. They moved to Billings in the early 1950’s where they raised 7 children.
Betty was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and wonderful cook. Ralph died in 1983. In 1993, Betty began a loving relationship with Ervin Sayler, until his passing in 2013. She was admitted to Billings Health and Rehab due to dementia in early 2013 until she passed away.
She is survived by her sons Ken (Diane) of Hardin, and Allen (Tess) of San Jose, CA, and daughter Phyllis(Joe) Joseph of Billings, 9 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ralph, sons Ron, Richard and Mike and daughter Patricia Garner. She is also preceded in death by her 2 brothers Larry and Mike, and 2 sisters Magdelin Beiber and Frances LaMar. Mom was the last of her generation in the Kuntz/Heilman family.
Viewing will be Thursday March 8, from 9:00a.m. to 8:00p.m. at Smith’s Downtown Chapel on S. 27th street. Funeral mass will be 10:00a.m. Friday, March 9, at Mary Queen of Peace (formerly Little Flower Church) 3411 Third Ave S in Billings. Burial following at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will be held back at the church following the burial.
