Obituary for June Wittman (Straw)
Our loving mother passed away on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 in Billings, at the age of 88.
June was born June 8, 1929 in Forsyth to Orrel and Nellie Straw. She was the seventh of 11 children. At a young age, she moved with her family to the Billings area. On Oct. 25, 1947, she married David K. Wittman in Billings and together they raised five children.
June was a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family, gardening and genealogy. She was a member of the Polyrock Extension Club, Shining Mountain DAR and AHSGR. She was of strong faith and was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, six sisters and one daughter-in-law.
She is survived by her loving husband David, of 70 years; their five children, David of Bastrop, Texas, Steven of Pompey’s Pillar, Gerald (Caroline) of Green River, Wyoming, Jay (Vicki) of Belgrade and Loretta (Bob) McClintock of Hamilton along with 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. June is also survived by one sister, Winnie Lehner of Billings.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 12 at First United Methodist Church, followed by a reception. Interment will be at Yellowstone National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday evening at Smith’s Funeral Chapel Downtown.
