Condolence From: Susan Moore
Condolence: To Irene Hegg's family, I was saddened to read of Irene's passing but take comfort knowing she is out of pain now. She was my neighbor on Beverly Hill Blvd. for almost 10 years. She truly was the mayor on the street, knowing everyone and keeping an eye out, all the while working on crafts with Sophie and Logan in her converted garage. In mild weather I could hear her whistling on the other side of the fence while she tended her flowers and yard. She was responsible for me getting a new dog, when a stray puppy wandered into her yard, she called me, since she didn't have a leash and was feeding the puppy cheerio's! I kept that dog for another 15 years. She was a master at figuring out the best solution to any problem, whether it was a lost puppy or finding a ride to the grocery store. It was a skill she honed at St. Vincent's while saving lives, comforting patients and making sure the hospital ran smoothly. Irene was very talented and spirited but was also very humble. She often told the story that when a garbage can caught fire in the alley one day, she forgot the 9-1-1 phone number, even though she was serving on the 9-1-1 committee! She would chuckle after telling that story. Irene was one special lady, a caring nurse, a stand up comic, a great neighbor and she lived a remarkable life. She will continue to inspire me to be the best person I can be.

Condolence: Dear Mike and family, I had the great pleasure of working with Irene at New Hope, St. Vincent Hospital during the early 1980s. We all worked hard on the rehabilitation floor, but she still had time to teach her staff how to laugh and enjoy life. She was a wonderful woman.

Condolence: Irene was a fine lady. I worked at the Billings Community and Senior Center many years ago. Irene participated in in activities and was a delight. I am so sorry for your loss.
